“Not Our Best Golf, But Best Personalities” – Travis and Jason Kelce Recap Their Wild Weekend in Tahoe

"Not our best golf, but best personalities" - Travis and Jason recap their WILD weekend in Tahoe

When NFL superstars Travis and Jason Kelce show up anywhere, you can bet it won’t be boring. And their appearance at the 2025 American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe was no exception. Despite not turning in the most dazzling golf scores, the Kelce brothers easily stole the show with their charisma, hilarious banter, and sheer magnetism.

In their post-event recap titled “Not Our Best Golf, But Best Personalities”, the Kelce brothers opened up about what went down over the wild weekend in Tahoe — from awkward tee shots and outrageous fan encounters to party boat shenanigans and unforgettable celebrity moments.

A Weekend of Chaos, Camaraderie, and Caddyshack Vibes

The American Century Championship is known for drawing an eclectic mix of athletes, actors, and entertainers, but this year, Travis and Jason were undoubtedly among the biggest stars. Travis, fresh off another Super Bowl-winning season with the Kansas City Chiefs and his high-profile relationship with pop icon Taylor Swift, was met with a frenzy of attention. His brother Jason, recently retired after a legendary career as center for the Philadelphia Eagles, brought his own brand of energy — shirtless, bearded, and as unfiltered as ever.

“I don’t think either of us came here expecting to win,” Jason said, laughing during their podcast recap. “I mean, I hit a pine tree on hole 3 and nearly took out someone’s sandwich. But we came here to have fun — and mission accomplished.”

Travis agreed: “It wasn’t our best golf, but it was definitely some of our best vibes.”

From Fairways to Fandom: Kelce-Mania in Tahoe

One of the defining themes of the weekend was the overwhelming fan presence. While Tahoe is no stranger to celebrity sightings, the Kelce brothers brought a kind of energy rarely seen on the golf course.

“It felt like the Super Bowl, but with golf carts and margaritas,” Jason joked. “Every hole we walked up to, there were chants, signs, people screaming ‘New Heights!’ and some dressed up in full Chiefs gear.”

For Travis, the attention came with another layer — the “Swiftie effect.” A noticeable number of fans in the crowd had homemade signs referencing Taylor Swift lyrics, and many came hoping for a glimpse of the music superstar herself. Though Taylor didn’t attend, the speculation never stopped, and Travis handled it all with his trademark charm and a wink.

“I love the Swifties,” Travis said. “They’re out there in full force, supporting me even when I shank a drive into the water.”

The Golf? A Little Rough. The Entertainment? Top-Tier.

In terms of actual golf performance, let’s just say the Kelce brothers weren’t threatening the leaderboard.

“I four-putted from six feet. That should be illegal,” Jason admitted. “And I celebrated like I made an eagle. That’s where we’re at.”

Travis added, “I birdied one hole and danced like it was New Year’s Eve. Then I triple-bogeyed the next three holes and considered taking up bowling.”

But what they lacked in scorecards, they made up for with showmanship. Jason’s habit of ripping his shirt off — already well documented in NFL lore — made its way to the greens. At one point, he played an entire hole in just shorts and sneakers to the delight of the roaring crowd.

Meanwhile, Travis found himself dancing to music between holes, posing for selfies, and even doing impromptu commentary with other celebrity participants like Charles Barkley and Tony Romo.

“There were moments where we forgot we were even in a tournament,” Travis said. “It felt more like a festival with golf clubs.”

A Star-Studded, Shirtless Spectacle

Beyond their own antics, the Kelce brothers shared stories about other stars they mingled with — including NFL legends, NBA stars, and Hollywood actors.

“Tony Romo’s golf game is legit,” Travis said. “And Charles Barkley… man, I love that dude, but I’m not sure what’s worse: his golf swing or his karaoke.”

Jason chimed in: “And shoutout to Alfonso Ribeiro — Carlton from ‘Fresh Prince.’ Dude can play! But more importantly, he was teaching people to dance on the green. Unreal.”

The brothers also revealed that the after-parties were just as wild as the tournament itself.

“We were on a boat with some other players and things got out of hand in the best way,” Jason said. “I’m talking dance-offs, fake putt competitions on deck, someone may have jumped in the water fully clothed… not naming names.”

“Wasn’t me,” Travis quipped. “But I may have tried to DJ with someone’s Bluetooth speaker and got booed.”

“New Heights” on the Green

The Kelce brothers also took time to film special content for their hit podcast New Heights, even interviewing other celebrity participants while in golf carts. The content is expected to be part of a special Tahoe episode that fans are eagerly awaiting.

“It’s cool to see how our podcast has grown to the point where people are yelling catchphrases from it while we’re teeing off,” Travis said. “Even if it totally messes up my swing.”

Jason nodded: “There’s nothing quite like trying to chip onto the green while someone shouts, ‘Put that sumbitch in the hole!’ That’s golf with Kelces.”

Wrapping It Up: No Trophies, Just Memories

While neither Travis nor Jason walked away with any silverware, they both agree that the Tahoe weekend will go down as one of their all-time favorite events.

“It’s not always about winning,” Travis said. “It’s about the people, the energy, the laughs — and let’s be real, the beer.”

Jason added, “Some guys go out there and win trophies. We win hearts. And possibly mild sunburns.”

Fans on social media echoed the sentiment, posting photos and videos of the Kelce brothers being “the life of the golf party” and calling them the “people’s champions of Tahoe.”

What’s Next for the Kelces?

As the golf clubs are packed away, the Kelce brothers are looking ahead to a busy fall. Travis is gearing up for another NFL season, hoping to defend the Chiefs’ title. Jason, meanwhile, is exploring more broadcasting opportunities and continuing to build the New Heights brand with his brother.

But one thing’s for sure: wherever the Kelces go, the fun follows.

“Next year, we’re coming back stronger,” Jason promised. “Maybe we’ll even practice. But no promises.”

“Golf’s just the excuse,” Travis concluded. “The personality’s the real show.”
