A source tells Star the 62-year-old has finally agreed to reunite with his former wife Nicole Kidman, 58, and their two adopted children, Bella, 32, and Connor, 30, in Europe this summer.

Even more surprising, the source says Nicole’s husband of 18 years, Australian country music star Keith Urban, 57, will confront his former rival. Tom, says the source, “is ready to put the past behind him and has said he’s looking forward to a fresh chapter.” Keith is also ready to let bygones be bygones. “Time has been a great healer,” adds the source. “They can finally clear the air.”

There’s been tension between Tom and Keith since the “Somebody Like You” singer married Nicole in 2006 (they welcomed daughters Sunday Rose in 2008 and Faith in 2010), five years after Tom and Nicole split. (Nicole reportedly called their divorce “a nightmare,” while Tom cryptically told Vanity Fair in 2002, “she knows why, and I know why” when discussing their breakup.) Tom wasn’t Keith’s biggest fan — “he saw him as some hillbilly crooner and couldn’t believe Nicole ended up with a guy like that,” says the source — while Keith resented the fact that Tom had created a wedge between Bella and Connor and their mom (Tom, Bella and Connor are Scientologists). “It’s hard to imagine Keith didn’t have negative feelings towards Tom,” says the source.

Over the years, however, Tom has come around. “His perspective has shifted,” says the source. “He’s come to respect that Keith’s been a steady, loving partner who really cleaned up his act for Nicole and has stayed the course.” Signs of a thaw between Tom and Nicole began to show in 2020, when she fondly recalled filming their 1999 movie Eyes Wide Shut in an interview with The New York Times. “We were happily married through that,” she said, adding that they would often go go-kart racing during breaks on set. In May, Tom furthered the good will by praising Nicole while also discussing the Stanley Kubrick flick with the magazine Sight and Sound. “I suggested Nicole play the role,” he said, “because obviously she’s a great actress.”
