Rap Legend, 56, Sends Blunt Message About Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce

He made a bold declaration about Swift’s impact on the NFL.

Rapper Ice Cube sent a blunt message about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce—specifically, regarding her impact on the NFL.

On the June 25 episode of Outta Pocket with RGIII podcast, host and retired NFL quarterback Robert Griffin IIIs wife, Grete Griffin asked Ice Cube—a die-hard Las Vegas Raiders fan—a touchy question about the Kansas City Chiefs.

“Do you think them constantly showing Taylor Swift on the broadcast, do you think that adds to the game? Or do you think it takes away from it?” Griffin asked the rapper.

Despite loving the Raiders, Ice Cube remained objective with his answer.

“It adds to the game because the NFL is interested in new eyeballs, more viewership,” he explained. “They’re trying to bring women into the sport and if they gotta use Taylor Swift to do it, so be it. I don’t think nothing wrong with it.”

Ice Cube continued, “At the end of the day, it’s really about what Travis does on the field. It’s not about what Taylor does in a suite.”

To conclude his thoughts on the topic, he boldly pointed out, “So no matter who’s at the game, whether she comes or not, Travis Kelce still has to perform. And he is performing at a high level. So I don’t understand what the big deal is about.”

In the comments of an X clip of the interview, one disgruntled NFL fan disagreed with Ice Cube’s take on Swift cheering on Kelce at gams.

They wrote, “I understand, but for long-time football fans, it just got old. They’d give more screen time, focusing on Taylor Swift after a TD, than they did to the team celebrating. Mostly, I just saw it as disrespectful and a little overkill. I’d be curious to see the numbers on how many Taylor Swift fans started watching the NFL, because of her. Unfortunately, it’s probably a net-positive.”

To that, RG3 pointed out, “Undoubtedly, it was a positive for the NFL and for Taylor Swift.”

A Swiftie also replied, writing, “Is thirty seconds over three hours that many to you? They did data analysis from the two seasons and it averaged less than thirty seconds. It may seem like more to you or to others but it wasn’t.🫶🏻”

A different Swift fan declared, “👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 I knew this man was smart!” of Ice Cube’s message.

Meanwhile, yet another X user echoed, “Ice Cube OG is absolutely correct,” as someone else echoed, “Imagine complaining about her 20 sec appearance on screen. Just pathetic 😂.”

Since Swift and Kelce went public with their relationship in September 2023, many celebrities, professional athletes and regular folks have weighed in on Swift and Kelce—including Kelce’s teammates, head coach Andy Reid and retired NFL player Michael Strahan.
