Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s ‘merger’ and prenup ahead of wedding!

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce recently announced their engagement, and experts were quick to share their thoughts on prenups for the couple

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce delighted fans when they announced their engagement on social media on Tuesday. Along with stunning snaps of the proposal in a dreamy location, award-winning Taylor captioned the post: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”

Shortly after Travis popped the question, the pair kicked back and relaxed on a bench underneath a sprawling floral gazebo. Taylor rested her head on her fiancée’s shoulders, while Travis rested his head on Taylor’s. According to reports, Travis helped design the ring.

The outlet reports that it has learned that the engagement ring is an Old Mine Brilliant Cut by designer Kindred Lubeck, adding that sources say the jewellery was worked on by Travis on the design.

With the news of the engagement now public, legal experts have weighed in on their future wedding and marriage, with some advising the couple to prepare an ironclad prenuptial agreement.

“A prenup makes total sense for them,” Kara Chrobak, founding partner of Bespoke Law, told Page Six. “Taylor is reportedly worth around $1.6 billion, and Travis has about $90 million. That’s a huge difference.

“Having a prenup lets them both go into the marriage knowing their separate assets are protected and avoids messy, expensive litigation if things don’t work out.”

Chrobak went on to say that ‘a small percentage of Taylor’s wealth’ could be life-changing for NFL star Travis.

Partner at law firm Charles Russell Speechlys, Sarah Jane Boon, told the Daily Mail: “As one of the most successful music artists in the world, Taylor Swift has much to look to protect in a pre-nuptial agreement, not least her hugely valuable back catalogue of music, developed over two decades in the period prior to her relationship with Travis Kelce.”

Meanwhile, after the engagement announcement, fans were divided by the caption. Taking to X, one person wrote: “Maybe the worst caption of all time ever. Just came to the realisation that Taylor put the dynamite emoji in there because they’re ‘T&T (tnt).'”

Another wrote: “Assumed this was some kind of in-joke about a pair of actual teachers getting married. What the f**k do you mean it was actually Taylor Swift?”

Another added: “I will be so for real, I genuinely thought it was a fan account posting the news because of that caption.”

However, other people were less offended by the caption and chose instead to celebrate the news. One wrote: “Stoppp I thought it was low key cute. I don’t know, though, that’s because every English teacher I’ve ever had has been obsessed with Taylor.”
