Brad Pitt Was More Than a Co-Star: Logan Lerman Unveils the Surprising and Unlikely Friendship That Bloomed Behind the Scenes of Fury

For Logan Lerman, working with Brad Pitt was more than just a professional experience—it blossomed into a genuine friendship that few of his co-stars can claim. The 33-year-old actor opened up about his relationship with the Hollywood legend during a candid conversation with Martin Short for Interview magazine, published July 28, as Lerman promoted his new film Oh, Hi!.

“Brad’s the greatest,” Lerman said when Short asked about working with Pitt. The story behind their first encounter is almost cinematic in itself: “I met Brad when I was a little kid as a fan at a restaurant. He was in full leather pants, leather button-up, just the coolest-looking person I’d ever seen in my life. Then we worked together and became friends.”

What struck Lerman most was Pitt’s down-to-earth nature. “It’s nice when you meet people you admire and they are not fussy and particular. They just want to make something great,” he remarked. Adding a touch of humor, Lerman contrasted Pitt’s generosity with less pleasant experiences he’s had in the industry, though he playfully declined to name names. “But Brad was so giving.”

Lerman and Pitt first shared the screen in Fury (2014), a gritty World War II drama centered on a tank crew navigating the final weeks of the European theater. The cast also included Shia LaBeouf, Michael Peña, Jon Bernthal, and Jason Isaacs. To prepare for the demanding shoot, the actors underwent intense boot camp training led by Navy SEALs. Lerman fondly recalled a funny behind-the-scenes moment from that time: waking Pitt up each morning for his watch duty. “It was weird. How do you wake up a sleeping beauty? It took a while to figure it out,” Lerman joked. “You just kiss him gently and you rock him and you hold him and you say, ‘Hey, sweetie.’” “Tenderness. Be kind,” he added with a smile.

Their collaboration didn’t end there. The two reunited in 2022’s Bullet Train, an action-packed thriller set on a Tokyo-bound train filled with assassins. Reflecting on their second project together, Lerman told The Hollywood Reporter in August 2022, “He’s the best. He really is the best, and I’ve loved every second of it. Any time I get to hang out with him is fun.”

Now starring in Oh, Hi!, Lerman’s star continues to rise—but his admiration and friendship with Pitt remain a cherished highlight of his career. What started as fandom at a restaurant grew into a genuine bond forged on set, proving that sometimes the best co-stars become lifelong friends.
