Brandon Blackstock may play a behind-the-scenes role in the entertainment industry, but his tumultuous marriage to Kelly Clarkson has sometimes put him in the spotlight.
Blackstock, who was married to the Grammy-winning pop singer and talk show host, has died at age 48 after a battle with cancer, the Blackstock family confirmed to USA TODAY in a statement on Thursday, Aug. 7.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brandon Blackstock,” the statement read. “Brandon bravely battled cancer for over three years. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family.”
A day earlier, Clarkson announced she would be postponing her Las Vegas show to support the couple’s children while Blackstock was ill.
In addition to managing some of the music industry’s top artists, Blackstock has made headlines in recent years for his contentious divorce from Clarkson, which included legal battles over child custody, real estate and business settlements.
