In his new book, Crazy Lucky: Remarkable Stories from Inside the World of Celebrity Icons, Mason drops the bomb by stating that Jackson’s obsession with his appearance started from an early age due to the constant criticism by his abusive father, Joe, according to Radar Online.“In 1964, Michael, who was six years old and driven to sing and dance, went to work,” the celebrity lawyer wrote in his book, before adding, “Michael would remember years later that his father didn’t praise his singing ability after that first performance or his magical moves.”“’He told me I had a big nose,’ Jackson said. That was just the beginning of Michael’s obsession with his looks and planted the seeds for future plastic surgery adventures in the name of finding true ‘beauty,” Mason further wrote about the obsession. Before Michael Jackson’s demise in 2009, the ‘Smooth Criminal’ singer publicly confessed that he had undergone two nose operations.

Recalling the time, John Mason mentioned that Joe would sit during the rehearsals with a belt in his hand just in case to punish if there were any mistakes or misbehaviour.

Admitting that there was never a fun moment, John wrote, “Joe’s way of approaching people was to be intimidating. He would shake your hand and try to crush it,” adding that Joe would exert dominance over others and bully them.

Michael Jackson’s bodyguard, Matt Fiddes, who worked with him for over a decade, admitted that the pop icon was bullied by his family over his nose, and used to get called ‘Big Nose’ by them. Fiddes further stated that a nose injury led him to get the surgery. “Michael used to dance about three hours a day on average. At one stage, he was doing 50 spins in a row. It was unbelievable. He fell over and broke his nose, and he saw it as the perfect opportunity while he was under anaesthetic to just get a smaller nose,” Finnes said.
