Actress Kelley Mack has died at the age of 33 after a battle with cancer as her family pays tribute to “a bright, fervent light”.

The US actress is best known for her role as Addy in season 9 of the popular zombie series The Walking Dead.

Mack, also a producer and voice over artist, further made her mark as Alice in the psychological thriller Broadcast Signal Intrusion and as Penelope Jacobs in Season 8 of the hit medical drama Chicago Med.

Earlier this year, she starred alongside Inbetweeners actor Joe Thomas in the comedy-drama film Universal, which was released on June 21.

Mack passed away on August 2 in Cincinnati, Ohio after a battle with central nervous system glioma, according to a statement from her family shared on the non-profit health platform CaringBridge.

The star’s death was announced in an Instagram post on her page, reading: “It is with indelible sadness that we are announcing the passing of our dear Kelley.

“Such a bright, fervent light has transitioned to the beyond, where we all eventually must go.

“Kelley passed peacefully on Saturday evening with her loving mother Kristen and steadfast aunt Karen present.

“Kelley has already come to many of her loved ones in the form of various butterflies.
